Microsoft Files for Patent That Will Allow You to "Whack Off" Your Smartphone

Maybe we should just refer to the patent as having the ability to hit your phone so that it shuts off, but what's the fun in that? All jokes aside, this idea Microsoft entered into patent protection is genius. After all, everyone can tell at least one horror story of when their phone went off at the worst possible time and they're left fumbling around trying to turn the damn thing off. 

As you can see in the patent above, the "Whack based audio control module can be used for controlling an audio signal of the mobile device in response to a whacking of the mobile device.” While we don't know how this idea spawned, our guess is that it stems from all those mornings we would karate chop your alarm clock in a fit of rage. Anyway, back to the phone and the hilarity that will ensue when someone tells you to "whack that thing off."
