What was he thinking? A man identified as 25-year-old David Villalobos lost his foot and suffered other serious injuries after jumping into the tiger den at the Bronx Zoo yesterday afternoon. The man was reportedly riding the Wild Asia Monorail that runs above the den when jumped out of his seat into certain danger. Emergency response staff rushed to his rescue and were able to scare the tiger away with a fire extinguisher.
The victim was conscious and talking, allegedly telling his rescuers that he jumped because he "wanted to die." He was taken to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
