Instagram Passes Twitter In Daily Mobile Users

For the first time ever, more smartphone users in the U.S. logged into Instragram on a daily basis than did Twitter last month. The hyper-growth photo-sharing service lured 7.3 million of its users to the app every day on average in August, whereas 6.87 million Twitter users checked in every day.

The data comes from a comScore report that AllThingsD got its hands on early. According to the report, not only did Instagram have more daily active users than Twitter last month, but Instagram users also spent significantly more time in the app than Twitter users. The average Instagram user spent 257 minutes in August viewing and sharing photos, whereas Twitter users spent just 170 minutes viewing and sending tweets.

Twitter did have more total visitors in August than Instagram, wih 29 million uniques compared to 22 million.
