Emma Watson is looking to put her experience working on the Harry Potter franchise behind her. A leading role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, due in theaters September 21st, may help with that.

"Making this movie was so pivotal for me because I realized I do really want to be an actress," Watson tells Glamour. "Which wasn't something I fully knew, since Harry Potter was such a singular experience."

The film is an adaptation of the popular novel, which was released in 1999. Watson plays Sam, the love interest of Charlie, the lead character.

That she's even starring in this film at all says something about both the movie and Watson.

“Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione– like, I felt that it was life or death– I don’t want to act again," she told Teen Vogue back in 2009.

Glad she's feeling inspired again.
