Apparently, not even Britney Spears and Demi Lovato weren't enough to get Simon Cowell those 20 million viewers he so desperately wanted during season one - according to Vulture, the second season of the reality singing competition only pulled in 8.4 million viewers, the show's smallest audience in just about ever. That's down 3 million viewers from last December's finale, and down 25 percent in overall viewership for the show.
And, to make matters even worse, X Factor was eclipsed by rival NBC singing competition The Voice, which pulled in 10.7 million viewers. Ouch.
