Had these guys pulled this mission off, they would've been legends. Thomas Silva, who had been a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer for nine years, was arrested last week for attempting to help his brother-in-law smuggle an illegal immigrant into the U.S. inside of a vehicle dashboard (!). His idiot brother-in-law, Julio Cesar Landaverde Valdez, was also convicted of human smuggling back in 2006.
In addition to being charged with concealing a person from arrest, he caught a wire fraud charge for reportedly firing a false car-theft claim. We can't help but wonder if he thought he'd get away with any of it.
