First appearance: Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 (1963)

Although he’s already appeared in nearly every Marvel Studios film so far, we think Nick Fury should stay as far away from his own solo movie as possible. Really, when you think about it, the dude doesn’t do much when he’s on screen anyway. Fury has acted as nothing more than a one-eyed plot device or deus ex machina in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and The Avengers so far, and Marvel has done very little to show that he's anything more than just Sam Jackson in a trench coat.

Plus, Marvel already tried to put Nick Fury in the spotlight in the made-for-TV movie, Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. And if David Hasselhoff can’t make you look cool, we doubt anyone can. Frankly, the studio should just stick with Fury as a supporting character and leave that spin-off talk in the boardroom.
