First appearance: Tales to Astonish #27 (1962)
We know the wheels are already in motion on this one, but we simply don’t understand why Ant-Man is such a high priority for Marvel. Other than the times that he slapped around his wife, he hasn’t really much outside of the Avengers to attract our interest.
The gist of the story is that scientist Hank Pym discovers these “Pym Particles” that allow him to change his size from microscopic to gargantuan with little effort. He also has the ability to control an army of ants with his helmet should he catch a super villain trying to enjoy a picnic.
As a member of a larger team Pym is great. He adds much to the overall dynamic of the group, and his unpredictable temperament is always good for a laugh. But left on his own, we can’t see him getting the job done.
