5 Social Media Signs Your Girlfriend Is About to Break Up With You

A tweet isn't anything to be worried about—it's as innocent as can be. Being angry that your girl is tweeting another guy is ridiculous and will essentially make you look like a jealous jerk. Everyone and their mother can see what she's saying and to whom she's saying it. Obviously, if she's tweeting at some dude and telling him that he has a great dong, sure, proceed to flip the hell out. But unless your girlfriend is dumb as dirt, that's an unlikely scenario.

However, direct messaging on Twitter is totally different. Direct messaging someone on Twitter means that you want to say something to the person, but you don't want anyone else seeing it. By definition, it's a secret conversation, one that can absolutely be shady. If you discover that your significant other has been DM-ing a new dude quite a bit, brace yourself for the worst. 

We're not advising that you turn into some paranoid, Instagram-trolling psycho here. That'd just be looking for a fight. However, if you happen to notice some new guy "liking" a bunch of your girl's photos, especially ones where she looks especially hot, then it may be time to wave the red flag.

Once suspicion is raised, you could always pull a CSI and do some cross-referencing. If it's not a one way street and the mystery guy has photos that she's recently liked, well, then, that's an entirely different ballgame.

And if your gal is all of a sudden taking those annoying, self-portrait, glamour shot types of Instagram pics, and then you see that mystery dude is "liking" them, let's just say we wouldn't go shopping for engagement rings. You're relationship may have an expiration date.

This is an absolute sign of social media shadiness. Why would all posts on your girlfriend's Facebook page suddenly require her approval? It's simple: Unless she's super conservative and doesn't want any family members or co-workers seeing how much of a party girl she is, she's probably scared that another guy, maybe even one she's already hooking up with, will post on her wall.

Think about it: If some dude writes an inside joke you don't get on her page, would you flip out? Probably. Thus, she's forced to approve all comments so that she can bat away anything that may lead to her getting caught in the act.

Bottom line: If your lady's Facebook wall suddenly turns private, it means that she's either already cheated or is, at the very least, actively flirting.

If it's come to this, your girlfriend's already suspicious that you're suspicious. And guess what, Sherlock? You're probably on the right track. 

We personally think that social media passwords are like pin codes: They should never be shared. Ever. Some things need to be yours and yours alone. It's information that, if a friend were to become an enemy, could be dangerous. And make no mistake about it, an ex can easily become an enemy. However, when a relationship's lovey-dovey stage is at it's absolute pinnacle, often times smart decision-making goes out the window. Passwords get shared.

Now, if you suspect that your lady may be up to no good, and then you find out that she's changed all her passwords, well, let's just say that nine out of 10, where there's smoke, there's fire. Think about it. Why, short of identity theft, would you suddenly change all of your passwords? What other justification could there be? 

You're getting played, player.

If your relationship were in the crapper, why would you want the world to know? Allow us to tell you. It’s because people who make the change to “it’s complicated” actually want their relationship to end. In many cases, they’re chomping at the bit, so much so that they want every single one of their Facebook friends to know. They use it as a bat signal of sorts, a sign to alert any potential suitors that some fresh meat is about to come their way.

“It’s complicated” is actually Facebook talk for, “Unless something changes, I can probably bone you sometime in the near future. Private message me and start laying the groundwork!”

If your girlfriend recently made this change, expect your relationship to get uncomplicated very quickly. As in you won't be in one much longer.
