According to Coming Soon, 20th Century Fox has hired famed comic book writer Mark Millar as a creative consultant for all of the studio’s upcoming Marvel Comics adaptations. These movies would include The Wolverine, the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, and director Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot.

During his time as a writer at Marvel, Millar worked on an extended run on both the Fantastic Four and Wolverine comic book series, both of which were highly acclaimed, especially his “Old Man Logan” storyline. In addition to that, Millar is also close friends with Days of Future Past director, Matthew Vaughn, having worked together on his adaption of Millar’s Kick-Ass comic.

In a press release, Fox production president, Emma Watts, said, “We are excited to be working with Mark. In addition to his groundbreaking Marvel work, he is simply one of the most original voices in comics today and will be an invaluable resource to us and to our filmmakers as we look for fresh opportunities to innovate within our shared Marvel universe."

That “shared universe” statement could leave the door open to a potential crossover between the X-Men and Fantastic Four down the road, much like Marvel did with The Avengers. Only time will tell.
