It's been a rough last couple of years for Del Toro. First it was announced that he was stepping down from directing the two Peter Jackson produced Hobbit films, and now his ambitious horror game trilogy InSane has been squashed.

THQ has returned all of the licensing rights back to Del Toro, who had been working on the game as a consultant.

THQ has not had the best of years either; 2012 has been rough all the way around. THQ's major title drop, Udraw, was a commercial flop and they been forced to institue layoffs, and have slashed salaries for high level execs.

Hopefully, this experience won't sour Del Toro  from more possible collaborations with the gaming industry. I know that a Del Toro flavored game, if anything like his films, would be all kinds of hotness.
