Almost 60 years after it was released, Stanley Kubrick’s first film, Fear and Desire, is finally coming to DVD and Blu-Ray from Kino Lorber, according to Indie Wire. The film was directed by a 24-year-old Kubrick in 1953, and was rarely seen after its initial release. Kubrick was so embarrassed by it that he did everything in his power to halt screenings and destroy the remaining prints.

But despite that, the film was still relatively well received and showed flashes of brilliance from the young director. In the past, people used to have to scrounge the Internet and movie conventions for bootleg versions of the movie to pop up, but now everyone will be able to own a fully-restored version of Kubrick’s experimental war drama.

Fear and Desire will hit stores on October 23.
