It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since so many of our favorite franchises—Mario, Zelda, Street Fighter, Mega Man, and now Final Fantasy—debuted. It makes us feel old as shit, but at least it means we get to celebrate, right?

Square Enix announced today that they're hosting a special event at PAX Prime in Seattle to commemorate everyone's favorite RPG series' 25th anniversary.

Dubbed "Experience Final Fantasy," the party kicks off the North American celebrations on Friday, August 31 at Seattle's ACT theatre. They'll have stations set up with playable Final Fantasy games from the last two and a half decades, as well as some unspecified "activities and games."

Prizes include a Final Fantasy XIII-2-branded PS3 and Xbox 360, plus a limited edition poster featuring renowned FF artist Yoshitaka Amano's unique 25th anniversary artwork for everyone.

There's also going to be some kind of announcement about the next stage in the story of Lightning—FFXIII's protagonist—taking place during the evening, so keep an eye out for that.

Any PAX attendees planning on taking part in the celebrations? What's your favorite Final Fantasy? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter, and check out the official Final Fantasy 25th anniversary website here.
