According to The Wrap, Sony is putting the biblical epic, The Redemption of Cain, into production and it will begin filming in July of next year. The site is reporting that the movie will focus on the story of Cain and Abel from the bible, but with a supposed “vampiric” twist.

What do vampires have to do with the story of Cain and Abel? Not a thing, but in this post-Twilight age that we live in, studios have to put vampires in seemingly every movie in order to try and make a profit. Earlier reports suggested that Will Smith was looking to both star in and direct Redemption, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. What we do know is that his production company, Overbrook Entertainment, will be behind the film.

Hopefully we'll get word on the cast and director soon. Plus, a little clarification on the whole vampire thing would be nice as well.
