We've heard some pretty ridiculous Apple rumors over the years, but this one is by far the wildest. A rumor sprouted today that Samsung decided to pay its $1 billion fine to Apple in all nickels. Yep. According to the rumor, which reportedly started on a humor site called 9gag, Samsung sent 30 trucks to Apple's headquarters loaded with five-cent coins, and just as the company's security was about to freak out, CEO Tim Cook got a phone call explaining that this is how the payment was going to be handled.
We didn't think we would have to say this but, none of that is true. As The Guardian explains, the fine isn't even yet payable because all we have is the jury's verdict. The judge is will rule on the fine on September 20. And, really? Nickels?
