River Phoenix's last film before his death in 1993, Dark Blood, finally has a release date. According to Vulture, it will premiere at the Netherlands Film Festival on September 27th, nearly twenty years after filming.

The movie was shelved after Phoenix's death due to a fatal drug overdose, as director George Sluizer abandoned the project which, at the time, had about eleven days of shooting left. Sluzier announced last fall that he was going to continue working on the film, and intended on filling the gaps with voiceovers from Phoenix's brother, Joaquin Phoenix.
