According to Hit Fix, Robert Downey Jr. injured his ankle on the set of Iron Man 3, which will cause production on the movie to be delayed for an undetermined period of time. Apparently the 47-year-old actor sustained the injury while performing a stunt for the film.

Marvel Studios released a statement saying, "Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates."

Despite the delay, Iron Man 3 is still slated to open on May 3, 2013.
