Perhaps they were looking to set a record for the shortest relationship ever. Because after dating for roughly two months, Katy Perry and John Mayer have already broken up.
"She's really upset about it," one insider says, while another adds: "She is making it seem like it wasn't serious with John, but she is hurt."
Another source said things were never that serious between the two.
"They'll end up as friends," the source said. "They were honestly having fun. People made it out to be far more than it was."
This, after a friend seemed to indicate that Katy had high hopes for a full on relationship with John.
"She doesn't want to get her heart broken again," said the friend, "but she feels a real connection and wants to see where things go."
Sad to see it end, but Katy also had a brief with Robert Ackroyd from Florence + the Machine earlier in the year. Maybe she's just looking to exlore a bit following her divorce from Russell Brand.
