HBO will soon offer a streaming-only service, for customers without cable. Great idea but the initial roll-out will be in Nordic countries. With the success of the HBO GO service, HBO has contemplated a non-cable subscription service for some time.

The streaming only service will be released in mid-October in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Ironically, Netflix recently announced its launch in the same exact countries. Looks like a instant movie streaming war will be taking place in a couple of weeks. HBO Nordic AB service, the name for the new HBO service will only for $12.50, a little higher than the Netflix streaming-only in the United States. Hopefully, if successful HBO considers a similar service in the United States. It's not likely being the current HBO GO system would be more profitable to the company.

Would  a HBO streaming-only service interest you in the United States?

Do you think HBO Nordic AB could be a strong competitor against Netflix?
