Gay Couple Suing Airline After Public Embarassment

Someone at Continental screwed up.

None

A gay couple is suing Continental Airlines over a May 2011 incident that involved a, well, "personal item" being removed from their bag. The couple was on a flight returning from Costa Rica and stopped in Houston to switch planes headed to Virginia, when they noticed their bag on the luggage carousel with something attached to it.

Someone, most likely a handler or screener, had removed their dildo, covered it with some greasy substance and taped it to the top of their bag. The couple believes they were targeted because they were gay, as their names were on the tags of their luggage, and other passengers laughed when they made the discovery. They're seeking punitive damages for the experience, which could be construed as a hate crime.
