Facebook's Getting into Real-Money Gambling

U.K-only for now.

Forget collecting Facebook Credits, the world's largest social network is going to allow U.K. residents to gamble with real money, Reuters reports.

For its gambling service, Facebook partnered with indie gaming company, Gamesys, to launch version of online Bingo that users over the age of 18 can play. Gamesys says it also plans to launch a slot machine game that would run on the network.

As of now, a Facebook spokeswoman says it has no plans of expanding its real-money gambling service to other countries.

"Real money gaming is a popular and well-regulated activity in the UK and we are allowing a partner to offer their games to adult users on the Facebook platform in a safe and controlled manner," Facebook said in a statement.

Facebook also is not disclosing how much money it's making from this new endeavor. If this proves to be a big money-maker, we can't Facebook not capitalizing and bringing it to more countries.
