Tony Scott, best known as the director of Top Gun and True Romance, has died at the age of 68 after committing suicide by jumping off of the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California, according to CNN. Scott jumped off of the bridge at around 12:00 p.m., and authorities have since recovered his body.
It was Simon Halls, a publicist for Scott, who confirmed the director's death. There have also been reports that contact information was found in Scott’s car, which allegedly led authorities to a suicide note in his office, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Tony Scott is also the brother of director Ridley Scott, but there has been no word from him at this time. Hall released a statement on behalf of the Scott’s saying, “The family asks for privacy during this time.” We’ll have more information on this story as it continues to break.
