The bad news continues for Sony’s big screen adaptation of the Uncharted video game series as Variety is reporting that director Neil Burger (Limitless) has now dropped out of the project. Burger was originally brought on board to replace David O. Russell, who had previously left the production as well.

Now the studio has brought National Treasure writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley into the mix to rewrite the script as the search for another director begins again. With Uncharted being one of the company's highest-selling game franchises, Sony is looking for the movie adaptation to find similar success, but so far it hasn’t been an easy road for the studio.
