Thor: The Dark World has finally found its villain as Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios has cast Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, the ruler of the Dark Elves. Eccleston will be replacing Mads Mikkelsen in the role, who had to drop out of the movie due to his commitment to the Hannibal TV series.
Malekith first appeared in Thor #344 during writer/artist Walt Simonson's monumental run on the character. Thor: The Dark World will see Chris Hemsworth return as the titular God of Thunder and will be directed by Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor.
Thor: The Dark World is set to be released on November 8, 2013.
