Now that he’s no longer going to be donning the pointy-eared cowl of Batman, Christian Bale is ready to begin the rest of his already impressive career. And instead of jumping right back into the blockbuster game, it seems like he’s settling on smaller, more fulfilling dramas to fill out his resumé.

According to Indie Wire, Bale is currently in negotiations to star in director Todd Field’s (Little Children) upcoming film, The Creed of Violence. Set during the Mexican Revolution, this movie centers on an assassin and a young Bureau of Investigation agent who are forced to work together to infiltrate the Mexican criminal underground.

Out of the two leads, we don’t know who Bale will actually play, or if negotiations will even work out. But at least we have an idea of what direction his career is going to be heading in.
