While Microsoft works on getting its Windows 8 platform out the door, co-founder Bill Gates and his foundation are busy solving the world's issues. The next on his agenda: finding a way for the 2.8 billion people around the globe without unsafe toilets, to safely go number two.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation plans to do this by reinventing the toilet. As the above video explains, the traditional flush toilet (the one you use) requires two things that most citizens of third-world countries don't have: sewer infrastructure  and a massive amount of water. Bill Gates would like to create a toilet that would take feces and turn into things that can help impoverished areas, like clean-burning fuel or fertilizer.
