People certainly aren't getting more ethical as time passes. Some asshole, or possibly several, left pieces of uncooked bacon at John D'Amato Field at New Dorp Beach where the area's Muslim community gathered to celebrate the end of Ramadan yesterday morning. Fortunately, this act of ignorance did not ruin the celebration, as a crowd of 1,500 convened, unaware of the police investigation that went on before the ceremony.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset for a month, which changes in accordance with the lunar calendar. Followers of Islam also refrain from eating pork. The act was kept under wraps so as not to upset people or ruin the event, as it is being investigated as a hate crime by the NYPD.
