Though it was previously reported that Nick Jonas was in the running to fill one of the remaining judges seats on American Idol left vacant by Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, it seems like producers of the Fox series have chosen to aim a bit higher. Page Six is reporting that Idol producers have reached out to rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs to join the series next season as a judge, alongside Randy Jones and newcomer Mariah Carey.

Though the move is definitely somewhat reaching for the stars on the part of the producers, the addition of Diddy to the series would definitely prompt a ratings revitalization, something the singing competition desperately needs going into its 12th season.

Sorry Nick - in a competition between you and DiddyDiddy's always gonna win.
