Having launched one of the most successful new products of the Christmas season last year in the Kindle Fire, Amazon could be looking to make lightning strike twice with a new piece of hardware set for release later this year or in early 2013. The massive online retailer will next launch its own smartphone, according to a new report in The Wall Street Journal.
The report seemingly cooberates an earlier story last week in Bloomberg that also said Amazon would add a smartphone to its Kindle portfolio. According to the WSJ's sources, Amazon's phone will have a display between 4 and 5 inches.
Like the Kindle Fire, the Amazon phone is expected to run a modified version of Android and boast the company's proprietary Silk browser.
