17-year-old Thorin Montgomery died after shooting himself in the head while playing Russian roulette with friends. Montgomery was the first to gamble at the game when the trigger on the .38-caliber revolver fired on Friday, striking him in the head.

Montgomery was taken to St. Petersburg’s Bayfront Medical Center in Florida, and was pronounced dead today. While it's unclear how many people die while playing the deadly game each year, a 2011 study showed that most of the victims were males under the age of 30.

No charges have been filed, but police are investigating how the teens came across the weapon.
