26-year-old Sam Boughen has an extremely rare genetic condition that's forced him to endure two liver transplants. After catching a lung infection following the second transplant, he landed in an 8 day coma after already spending the previous six months in the hospital.
When Boughen finally awoke, he was only able to communicate by writing on an iPad. Instead of some sentimental message, Boughen asked for KFC—specifically a chicken burger with gravy. According to his family, that's how they knew he was alright.
