One of the most frustrating aspects of Twitter—and, really, all social networks—is the inability to go back and read your old tweets. Fortunately, Twitter is planning to change that.
Twitter CEO, Dick Costolo, told The New York Times that the company is working on a way for users to download old tweets.
“We’re working on a tool to let users export all of their tweets,” Costolo told the Times. “You’ll be able to download a file of them.”
Some third-party companies, like Twimemachine, have already swooped in to try and fill the void. Twitter's initiative, when ready, will only allow you to access your old tweets, not all old tweets, like Oldtweets—a service that lets users dig through all the tweets from Twitter's first year of service.
Costolo didn't give any word as to when the service will be ready. But you can now sleep easier knowing that you'll be able to retrieve all the jokes you made during the 2010 BET Awards.
