The Best of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog
Stars: Robert Smigel, Conan O'Brien
In a perfect world, Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, the hand puppet "operated" by veteran Saturday Night Live writer Robert Smigel, would have his own late night talk show. Viciously rude, mean, and unafraid to speak his rubber mind, Triumph attacks those in his presence with the hilarious vitriol of Don Rickles on comedic steroids.
But, alas, we'll have to settle for his amazing segments on NBC's long-finished Late Night with Conan O'Brien, several of which are compiled here. Highlights include Triumph's evisceration of overzealous, mostly costumed nerds waiting on line to see George Lucas' The Phantom Menace and the cigar-chomping pooch's backstage antics at a Bon Jovi concert. For added viewing pleasure, do a shot every time Triumph dry-humps a real-life dog or says his trademark one-liner, "For me to poop on!"
