Love is truly a battle field. Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon (first photo), a plastic surgeon from Amarillo, TX, reportedly hired a hitman to take out another doctor who had been dating his ex-girlfriend. Dixon compensated David Shepard (second photo) in three silver bars, each worth $3,000, to kill Dr. Joseph Sonnier llll. Murder ain’t the way to win someone back, dude.
According to Shepard’s roommate, he snuck into Sonnier’s house “through a window and shot him several times” using a gun that Dixon had provided. Shepard’s roommate added that he was so “distraught” following the murder, that he slit his wrists. Using his medical talents, Dixon closed the wounds and suggested Shepard “leave for a couple of weeks.”
Dixon was very well-respected in the community and by co-workers, but had gone through a messy divorce last year.
Dixon and Shepard are currently in custody awaiting extradition to Lubbock. There were clearly cracks in the foundation, but killing your rival is not the way to fix things. Ask this guy.
