After an alleged assault in McCarren Park Pool, two teenage girls have been arrested, with a series of videos posted on YouTube showing the assault and the post-assault celebration. While being videotaped, one of the girls allegedly ran up behind one of the victims and punched her in the face.
Two of the three videos posted were taken down, though one titled, "Alicia fight this white girls" (above), is still viewable and shows one of the girls performing a victory dance after the fight. The two other videos captured the assault and the aftermath, in which the victims were taunted by their attackers.
This assault is one of several instances of violence over the past several weeks involving McCarren Park Pool, including an attack on a lifeguard and the punching of a police officer. The pool has already been closed multiple times due to violence since its reopening June 28.
