Swiss Restaurant Ordered to Stop Selling Pizza Topped with Venom

Special sauce.

None

Swiss health officials have ordered an "eccentric" chef to stop selling pizzas with a secret topping—venom. Ismail Ertekin, who owns the restaurant Avanti, had been selling pizzas topped with venom extracted from snakes, spiders, and scorpions. Believe it or not, he was offended by the request, claiming that preservatives were actually "more damaging" than venom.

Ertekin added that the pizzas were especially popular with people who were afraid of snakes and spiders, claiming that they said it helped them conquer their phobias. This is coming from a man who also promoted a pizza topped with 24 karat gold, so he'll say (and create) anything. Some people don't like to experiment with their pizza.
