No one knows for sure when the new iPhone and iPad will be announced, but the reigning rumor hope is that it happens sometime in October, around the time the last iPhone was announced. However, two new rumors suggest it may happen earlier much earlier.

Apple news site iMore reported that Apple will announce the new iPhone and smaller iPad at an event on September 12, with the iPhone getting a September 21 release. What's more, it also believes we will see an all-new iPod Nano announced, as well.

Today, iLounge put together a piece on all the news surrounding the upcoming Apple releases and co-signed the iMore report by saying the iPhone "will be ready to ship the new iPhone starting in mid-September, pointing to a launch date around the third week of September, maybe a little later if it waits to build additional inventory. But just before October is looking increasingly likely."

According to iLouge, the mini iPad won't be ready to ship at the same time as the iPhone. Also interesting is the claim that Apple is developing two new iPhone cases that their sources say "will have a major impact on the accessory market if released, yet is not hugely surprising."
