Warner Bros., other major Hollywood studios, and box office tracking corporation Rentrak have promised not to report box office numbers at all this weekend, out of respect for the victims of the Colorado theater shooting. This comes in addition to the news that Warner Bros. had cancelled both a Mexico City red carpet press event and the Paris premiere of The Dark Knight Rises.
According to Vulture, Nikki Finke at Deadline has called this move a "highly unusual step," but still theorized that the film would take in huge earnings this weekend. Numbers will be officially reported on Monday.
