So, if you didn’t know, not only does the name Soul ll Soul refer to the British group responsible for “Back to Life” and “Keep on Movin’,” it now also appears to refer to a new form of e-commerce. Lori N, a struggling freelance writer from Albuquerque, N.M.,attempted to sell her soul on eBay with bids starting at $2,000.

Back in 2007, she was in a car accident which left her in a coma for three weeks. After waking up, she suffered a stroke, a broken hip and pelvis, a broken leg, collarbone, sternum, ribs and a collapsed lung. Saying she was “near the end of her rope,” she insisted the listing was a desperate plea for help.

The listing appears to have been taken down; eBay has strict rules against selling human remains, but a soul isn’t exactly tangible. The day it gets this bad for the rest of us writers, we’re either going to grad school or donating bone marrow for money.
