If you're impatiently waiting to learn when you can cop Windows 8 or a computer running Windows 8, we have good news and bad news. Good news: Microsoft has finally given a release date for its next-gen operating system. Bad news: Windows 8 will go on sale October 26, 2012.
Microsoft's latest operating system is a complete revamp. Built from the ground up to address the current state of personal computing, Windows 8 is designed to run on both desktops, laptops, and, most importantly to Microsoft, tablets.
The Redmond, WA company recently announced that it would start manufacturing its own tablet running called Surface. This would mark the first time Microsoft would be competing directly with its third-party partners. This week, Microsoft unveiled the next Office which is deeply modeled after Windows 8.
