Just a week after the shooting in Aurora, a Maryland man was arrested for making a "Joker" reference while threatening to shoot up his former workplace after being fired. 28-year-old Neil Prescott of Palmer Park, MD allegedly told a supervisor at Pitney Bowes, a mailroom and software supplier, that he wanted to see his boss' "brain splatter all over the sidewalk," and that he was " a joker" who would "load [his] guns and blow everybody up."
Police searched Prescott's apartment yesterday morning and found roughly two dozen semi-automatic rifles and pistols, and several thousand rounds of ammunition. The weapons all appear to have been purchased legally. During the search, Prescott wore a t-shirt with the disturbing message "Guns don't kill people. I do."
Although it's not clear, police believe the "Joker" comment was a reference to the shooting in Aurora. They also feel that another horrible incident has been avoided. Prescott was not formally charged, but was taken into custody and will receive a psychiatric evaluation.
