Like La Chupacabra or the Sasquatch, the Facebook Phone is a mythic creature that pops up in rumors and tall tales seemingly every year. But according to Mark Zuckerberg, you shouldn't expect the social network of record to build its own smartphone any time soon.

On Facebook's first ever investors call yesterday, Zuckerberg said "it wouldn't make sense" for his company to get into manufacturing phones, pointing out that Facebook is already the most popular app on every platform out there.

Even though Facebook won't build its own device, however, like Microsoft is doing with Surface, a lot of people think it could still partner with OEMs like HTC to introduce a new Facebook-branded software platform.
