It may take generations before humans are ever allowed to set foot on Mars, but according to NASA, a new panoramic photographic sent to Earth by the Mars rover Opportunity is the "next best thing to being there." 

Created between December 21, 2011 and May 8, 2012, the panorama is made up of 817 images, all of them shot near an area called "Greeley Haven," where Opportunity spent the last Martian Winter.
