Internal Nintendo developer Project Sora has closed, according to a message on the studio's website. The message, as translated by Andriasang, says that the company closed on June 30th, and that their website will go dark on July 31st.

Formed in 2009 by Super Smash Bros. Brawl director Masahiro Sakurai, Project Sora's first game, Kid Icarus: Uprising, was both a key critical and financial success for the 3DS.

It was thought that Project Sora would work with Namco Bandai to produce the next Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS. Sakurai will continue his work on the series, acting as director for the Namco Bandai team.
