During an AMA question-and-answer session today on reddit, Arkane Studios' Harvey Smith and Raphael Colantonio, co-creative directors of Dishonored, shared some interesting factoids with fans and admirers.

For example: you'll be able to complete the entire game, an open-ended first-person RPG with Steampunk leanings in the vein of Deus Ex or System Shock, without killing anyone at all. This is somewhat unique for a game about an assassin.

"Yes, you can complete the game without killing anyone," answered Smith. "(It was a goal of ours.) And the world reflects that to some extent."

He added that there are a number of "weird" ways to complete the game—"As players we're always trying to do things we didn't do last time. Our programmers were all trying to do crazy weird variants this week. 'The Falling Angel playthrough,' where you only kill by using drop-assassination."

Another redditor asked whether not killing anyone will cause players to miss out on some powers, to which Colantonio replied, "Well, by definition, yes."

"You'll miss the assassination anims and a couple of powers like Devouring Swarm and Shadow Kill," he said. "But playing nonlethally (and with total stealth, on a higher difficulty) often forces very tense cool moments...sublime tension as my friend Randy Smith (from Thief) likes to say. So it's a trade-off."

So how will you be playing? Killing everything in sight, sneaking around and stunning enemies without harming them, or something in between? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
