Crystal White PS Vita Release Causes Japanese Sales to Nearly Double

Time for a US release?

None

The Crystal White PS Vita may be a simple aesthetic overhaul for the little system, but apparently that's all it takes to move mountains of handhelds. That, and something Metal Gear Solid-themed, of course.

Japan saw the release of both the Crystal White PS Vita and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PS Vita recently, and sales for the week of June 26-July 1 almost doubled, jumping from 12,100 units sold to 22,638.

Nintendo still reigns, selling around 65,000 units week-after-week. But that probably has a lot to do with the release of Pokemon Black and White 2, which moved 2 million copies in the first two weeks.

A surge in sales is definitely a good thing for the PS Vita. Hopefully there are a few more hits around the corner to help the system gain steam.

Do you have one yet? Would you buy one if they released the Crystal White PS Vita in the US? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
