25-year-old Stephen Andrew Carreiro was arrested after going on a naked streak of violence on Saturday. Another Hacienda Inn guest found him covered in blood, looming over the half-naked body of a 62-year-old woman at the Tracy, Calif., resort. A witness, Jermaine Haynes, says Carreiro knocked on his door, behaving oddly and trying to sell him candy.
Hayes wasn't interested, and then heard Carreiro breaking windows in the hotel moments later. After hearing a ruckus in a management apartment, Hayes and other guests broke in and made the horrific discovery. They restrained him until police arrived; it took cops 20 minutes to subdue him.
The woman, a hotel employee, was taken to a hospital where she died. Carreiro was charged with murder and is being held without bail. Hayes says Carreiro was on "cloud 20," adding that he was definitely under the influence of something. There's been no word on a specific substance, but he could've been on Cloud 9 for all we know.
His crime has all the makings of a bath salts episode.
