Update: Reader Smack took our advice to heart and went and started a petition. Good on you, Smack!

If there's a handheld system in existence that can run Borderlands 2, it's definitely the PS Vita, and Gearbox President Randy Pitchford has said it's a possibility—but you're going to have to start a petition or something if you really want it. Ya'll are good at petitions, right?

"Perhaps some of you folks can convince Sony to start that," Pitchford told an audience at the Rezzed PC conference today. "We're too busy to develop it ourselves. But I know there are a lot of talented developers who could take our code, our source and our content and perhaps create something like that."

A PS Vita version of Borderlands 2 could potentially even interact with the PS3 version, with players on both systems playing co-op together.

So who's going to be the first to sign? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
