In a statement from his official Twitter account, director Darren Aronofsky confirmed that he has cast Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah in his upcoming biblical epic, Noah.

i'm honored to be working with the great sir anthony hopkins. we just added him to the stellar cast of #Noah. #methuselahlives.

In the Hebrew Bible, Methuselah is the grandfather of Noah who passes away seven days before the great flood. He is often portrayed as being well over 900 years old at the time of the story of Noah and his ark. Hopkins will be joining a cast that includes Russell Crowe, Saoirse Ronan, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ray Winstone.
