Google had its hastily prepared, Apple-preempting press conference about Maps today, and the company ultimately didn't have much to show off that will be of any real consequence any time soon. It did, however, demo an overhauled Google Earth for mobile that promises to enable gorgeous 3D rendering of entire cities like never before. You can get a look at it in the video above.
Next week at WWDC, Apple is expected to introduce its own 3D mapping software that will completely replace Google Maps in iOS 6.
